Finance Manager – Private Equity Real Estate

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Employment Type: Full-Time

Department: Finance & Operations

Is This You?

“You’re a finance professional ready to move beyond traditional reporting and into the engine room of private equity—where your work shapes investment decisions, strengthens operational excellence, and accelerates your career growth.”

The Opportunity

This is not a traditional finance role. It is a strategic finance partnership position that sits at the intersection of fund operations, investment execution, and value creation.

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as the financial backbone of the fund manager—strengthening the firm’s financial operations, governance, and reporting across the full fund management lifecycle.
  • Work directly with Partners and the Investment Team, gaining exposure to investment analysis, capital stack optimization, and portfolio strategy.
  • Oversee outsourced finance functions while developing scalable internal processes aligned with our AUM growth.

This role is purposely designed as a launchpad for accounting professionals seeking deeper exposure to private equity and fund accounting. High performers typically progress to Senior Finance Manager, with options to expand into Investment Operations, FP&A, or Portfolio Finance.

Our Commitment to Your Development

  • Annual learning stipend for professional certifications, accounting modules, and executive courses
  • Quarterly “Finance & Investing” roundtables with Partners and external operators

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Strategic Reporting

  • Prepare IFRS-compliant financial statements, management reports, and institutional-grade investor reporting packages.
  • Lead consolidation of financial results across Malaysian entities; ensure timely month-end and quarter-end closings.
  • Drive budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support capital allocation decisions.
  • Monitor fund-level cash flows, capital calls, distributions, and waterfall calculations; deliberate with Partners on liquidity management.
  • Oversee SPV accounting, statutory compliance, and audit readiness across all entities.
  • Produce executive dashboards and analyses on firm performance, fund health, and portfolio metrics.

Fund Administration & Investor Relations Support

  • Serve as primary liaison to fund administrators: reviewing NAVs, capital accounts, and LPA compliance.
  • Review and approve fund-level financial statements and investor communications.
  • Coordinate annual audits, tax submissions, and regulatory filings with auditors and advisors.

Regulatory Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with Securities Commission guidelines and MFRS requirements.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and risk management frameworks.
  • Support regulatory submissions and assist legal counsel on compliance and AML/KYC matters.

Business Process Outsourcing Oversight

  • Manage BPO partners for accounts, IT, and operational support—driving SLA performance and cost efficiency.
  • Integrate outsourced outputs into internal reporting systems and champion automation opportunities.
  • Review procurement and payment instructions for adherence to policies and ESG considerations.

Strategic Value Creation (Where You’ll Stretch)

  • Support financial modelling and scenario analysis during deal due diligence.
  • Contribute to quarterly portfolio reviews and value creation tracking.
  • Participate in deal teams, with exposure to term sheet review, closing processes, and post-acquisition integration.

Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; ACCA, CPA, CA or similar qualifications preferred.
  • At least 5 years of progressive finance experience, ideally in private equity, real estate, infrastructure, fund accounting, or asset management.
  • Track record in managing outsourced operations and collaborating with fund administrators.
  • Experience handling cross-border entities (Malaysia + Europe/Asia) is an advantage.

Technical Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS/MFRS, consolidation, fund accounting, and investor reporting standards.
  • Familiarity with private equity fund mechanics—capital accounts, waterfalls, carried interest.
  • Excel modelling; experience with ERP systems or fund admin platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to translate complex financial information into actionable insights.

Leadership Attributes

  • Commercial curiosity and an interest in the investment story behind the numbers.
  • Ability to engage confidently with Partners, investors, administrators, and service providers.
